For students with Special Needs, the rubric can be modified to half the required sentences, depending upon the student's abilities. The group project works well when students are paired with a team that will help support the learning of the student. The teacher may want to highlight specific areas on each link for the student to focus or allow the student to cut and paste information onto a word document and print for future use on the organizer.
This WebQuest is designed to support learning of informational text and summarizing the information researched. Additional learning will occur during the collaborative meetings of experts and team discussions. The final group project can be a variety of ideas and not limited to a word document. The teacher will have time to monitor the teams and determine if they are being productive or not. 25 points have been added into the overall project for participation, active listening, and staying on task with the rough draft. The Exit Card is listed in the Conclusion section because the students should be cognizant of finishing their journey and following directions. This is a brief group discussion and individual grade. This project may take one and a half to two weeks of 50 minutes daily to complete all sections. I designed this WebQuest for a student with special needs in mind on a 3rd grade level; however, this WebQuest can be used for a variety. of grade levels.
